What information do we collect?
We learn, collect, and store the Personal Information that we consider necessary when you use our Platform. We use this information to provide you with a safe, efficient, smooth and customised experience, which includes, without limitation, displaying content such as recommended products that may interest you, and communicating with you about your orders, new products, and the latest promotional offers. This allows us to provide specific services and features that most likely meet your needs, customise our Platform to make your experience safer and easier, and enable third parties to carry out technical, logistical and other functions on our behalf.
Here are the types of information we gather:
1) Information you provide to us. We receive and store the information you explicitly provide. This includes Personal Information such as your name, email address, telephone/mobile number, billing and shipping address, postal code, and (where you create an account) a username and password. When you place an order, you may also provide order- and delivery-related details. You may choose not to provide certain information, but this could prevent you from taking full advantage of our Platform's various features (for example, completing a purchase or receiving a delivery).
2) Payment information. When you make a purchase, payment is processed by third-party payment gateways and processors (for example, our payment service providers and any one-click checkout / cash-on-delivery providers we integrate). You may provide payment details such as card, UPI, net-banking or wallet information directly to these processors. We do not collect or store your full card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, net-banking passwords, or other sensitive financial credentials on our own servers. These are handled by PCI-DSS-compliant payment processors. We may receive limited transaction information (such as a payment confirmation, the last few digits or a token of a card, and the transaction status) to enable order processing, refunds and support.
3) Information collected automatically. Whenever you interact with our Platform, we automatically receive, record and analyse information from your browser, server or device, including, without limitation, your IP address, approximate geolocation data, device and browser identifiers, the type of browser and device you use to access our Platform, "cookie" information, and your browsing and purchase history on the Platform. We sometimes aggregate this with similar information from other customers to power features such as best-sellers, recently viewed products, and personalised recommendations. We may use software tools (such as cookies and JavaScript) to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page-interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs), and the methods used to browse away from a page. We use this information for internal analysis and to provide you with a better, more personalised shopping experience.
4) Information from other sources. We may receive information about you from third parties, such as social media services, commercially available sources, and our business partners. If you access our Platform through a social media service, or connect a service on our Platform to a social media service, the information we collect may include (but is not limited to) your username, profile picture, email address, and any other information you have made public or that the social media service has the right to share with us. Whenever you access the Platform or contact us through social media services or messaging channels (such as WhatsApp), you authorise us to collect, store, analyse and use such information in accordance with this Policy.
If Saanwri has reason to suspect that the information provided by any user is misleading, inaccurate, obsolete or incomplete, Saanwri reserves the right to refuse provision of the Services to the user, at its sole discretion and without incurring any liability. We will not be liable for reliance on, or the consequences of, any misleading, inaccurate, obsolete or incomplete information.
When you sign in to your account on the Platform, you consent to our collection, storage and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
How it is used
We may use your Personal Information to identify, investigate, prevent, deter or take action regarding unethical or illegal activities, suspected fraud, violations of our Terms, breach of our agreement with you, or as otherwise required by law (collectively, the "Purposes").
We may also use your Personal Information, in accordance with applicable laws, to provide you with the Services, enhance the user experience, manage our relationship with you, build user insights, analyse data for the introduction of new services and features, and as required to comply with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations. This may include, among other things:
- Creating and maintaining user accounts, including personalisation to improve the user experience;
- Processing your orders and payments, and providing support related to payment, billing, invoicing, shipping, delivery, returns, exchanges and refunds;
- Engaging trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us, including payment processing, order fulfilment and logistics/courier services, cloud hosting, off-site backups, email/SMS/WhatsApp communication, analytics, and customer support. We share Personal Information with such third parties only to the extent necessary to perform these functions, in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws;
- Improving and enabling the use of the Platform and our Services, ensuring an efficient customer-care experience, increasing the efficiency of existing features, and developing new features;
- Performing research and analysis to better understand our users and improve our products, Services and technologies, and ensuring that content and advertising displayed to you are customised to your interests and preferences;
- Sending transaction-related communications such as order confirmations, dispatch and delivery updates, and billing reminders;
- Auditing our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies;
- Notifying you of information related to the Platform, the Services and your account from time to time;
- Maintaining records and providing you with an efficient, safe and customised experience while using the Platform;
- Using or disclosing Personal Information if required by law, or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) conform to applicable law or comply with legal process served on us or the Platform; (b) protect and defend our rights or property, the Platform or our users; and (c) act under emergency circumstances to protect the personal safety of us, our affiliates, the users of the Platform, or the public, including exchanging information with other companies and organisations for fraud protection;
- Sending you newsletters and emails (and, where you have opted in, SMS/WhatsApp messages) to market other products and Services we provide;
- Creating non-identifiable "aggregate data" from Personal Information, including sensitive information, to analyse overall trends and help us improve the Platform and Services;
- Verifying users' identity and preventing fraud or other unauthorised or illegal activity;
- Complying with applicable laws, rules and regulations; and
- Any other purpose consistent with this Privacy Policy and in support of the above activities.
Retention of Personal Information
We may retain users' Personal Information for as long as a user continues to use the Platform or avail Services, maintains an account with us, or for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy. Users may, by sending an email to support@saanwri.in, request that Saanwri delete and destroy such information.
We may, however, retain Personal Information for an additional period as permitted or required under applicable laws, for legal, tax, accounting or regulatory reasons, or for legitimate and lawful business purposes (such as maintaining records of completed transactions and complying with our obligations).
If your account has been inactive for a reasonable period of time, we may delete the account and its content. Where feasible, you will receive notice prior to deletion so that you may reactivate your account or retrieve any data you would like to retain.
Please note that we may hold anonymised data that at one point originated from you; because such data is truly anonymised and no longer constitutes Personal Information, we may keep it for as long as it is relevant to our business purposes.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT STORE CERTAIN INFORMATION ON OUR SERVERS, INCLUDING FULL CARD NUMBERS, CVV, UPI PINS, NET-BANKING PASSWORDS AND OTHER SENSITIVE FINANCIAL CREDENTIALS. SUCH INFORMATION IS HANDLED DIRECTLY BY OUR PAYMENT PROCESSORS IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE PAYMENT-SECURITY STANDARDS.
How do we use cookies?
A cookie is a small file that we transfer to your device through your web browser (where your browser settings allow it). This file helps us recognise your browser and respond to you as an individual, as well as provide personalised features and content based on your needs, likes, dislikes and behaviour on our Platform. We use cookies to understand and remember your preferences for future visits, to advertise to you on other sites, and to compile aggregate data about traffic and interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies. The help menu on most browsers will tell you how to prevent the browser from accepting new cookies and how to delete or disable existing cookies. For more information on cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information provided by the Interactive Advertising Bureau at https://www.allaboutcookies.org.
However, disabling or deleting our cookies could prevent you from taking full advantage of our Platform's various features. Where applicable, a banner asking you to accept our cookie practices may be displayed on your first visit to our Platform (or your first visit after you delete your cookies).
Do we share the information we receive?
Respecting users' privacy is not only an important part of our business but one of the core philosophies of our organisation. We never have and never will commercially exploit your information by selling it to third parties. We share customer information only as described below, and in no other manner:
1) Third-party service providers. We employ other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf. These functions include, but are not limited to, hosting the Platform, fulfilling and delivering orders, processing payments, analysing customer data, providing marketing and communication assistance (email/SMS/WhatsApp), providing search and recommendation results, and providing customer support. For the optimum performance of these functions, they have access only to such customer information as is needed to perform their functions, and are contractually bound not to use it for any other purpose.
2) Compliance with law. We may be required to share customer information with government authorities and agencies for purposes such as verification of identity, or the prevention, detection or investigation (including of cyber incidents), prosecution and punishment of offences. We may also release account and other Personal Information when we believe such release is appropriate to enforce or apply our Terms and other agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Saanwri, our users or others, including exchanging information with other companies, organisations, and government or regulatory authorities for fraud protection and risk reduction. We may disclose Personal Information to third parties in anonymous or aggregate form to understand industry trends and patterns and to improve the quality of our Services. We may also share details with professional advisers (such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, insurers or consultants) to obtain professional advice. Any such processing will be governed by an agreement in the form required by law, preserving your statutory data-protection rights. You authorise us to exchange, transfer, share or part with all or any of your Personal Information, including, where applicable, across borders to other countries, with our affiliates, agents, third-party service providers, partners, banks and financial institutions, for the Purposes specified under this Privacy Policy or as required by applicable law.
3) Business transfers. As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or business units. In such transactions, all information, including Personal Information collected and stored by us, may be disclosed and transferred to an acquirer, successor or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition, financing, sale of company assets, or similar transaction, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which such information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.
4) With your consent. Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties, and you will have the option to choose whether or not you would like such information to be shared.
Is your information secure?
The security of your Personal Information is very important to us. We use reasonable security policies, rules and technical measures, as required under applicable law, to safeguard and protect your information from unauthorised access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorised modification, and unlawful destruction or accidental loss.
We restrict access to your Personal Information to ourselves and our affiliates' employees, agents, third-party service providers and partners who need to know such Personal Information in relation to the Purposes specified in this Privacy Policy, provided that such entities agree to abide by this Privacy Policy.
However, we shall not be responsible for any breach of security or for any action of any third parties that receive your Personal Information, nor for events that are beyond our reasonable control, including acts of government, computer hacking, unauthorised access to computer data and storage devices, computer crashes, breach of security and encryption, and similar events.
While we will endeavour to take all reasonable and appropriate steps to keep secure any information we hold about you and to prevent unauthorised access, you acknowledge that the internet is not 100% secure. No data transmission over the internet is fully secure, so we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you submit to us, and you do so at your own risk. If you believe that the security of your account has been compromised, please change your password and contact us immediately.
